In nature-based education, Inside, Outside, and Beyond is often viewed as physical space—but what if it’s also a powerful metaphor for how we connect with children, colleagues, families, and the natural world?
This retreat invites nature-based early childhood administrators to step into a deeper exploration of Inside, Outside, and Beyond—not just as places, but as layers of connection: to ourselves, to our colleagues, to the children and their families, and to the natural world. Together, we’ll reflect on how our own presence—our emotions, mindset, and roles—profoundly shape children’s learning experiences. We’ll also identify what we can and can’t control as program leaders and then share ideas and learn from one another’s experience to address what is within our control.
The two-day retreat will combine individual and whole-group activities led by Dr. Rachel Larimore, as well as crowdsourced breakout discussions in smaller groups. We’ll also have time for rest and recreation! Through personal reflection, thoughtful discussions, and collaborative activities, we’ll do the “deep work” of showing up with intention, authenticity, and care to foster stronger nature-based programs.
This retreat is for you if you’re ready to pause, reflect, and reimagine your role—not just as an administrator of a nature-based program, but as a co-learner, teammate, and leader in a nature-based learning community.
